Aspen Food and Wine 2014

During this time of the year  ‘Spring’ season is in full swing, produce stands and local markets have exploded with an abundance of fruits and vegetables.  In the kitchen we are excited and grateful because each new day brings yet another surprise to the chef’s table.  Our ideas and creativity are on overdrive, and the passion for our craft has the power of a runaway freight train!

At this same time of the year there to is a VERY special event that takes place in Aspen, Colorado, “FOOD and WINE Classic in Aspen’!   This yearly event brings together over 50 + of the most influential food, wine and restaurateur experts from around the country, all are gathering to collaborate, and share the vast knowledge amongst themselves and loyal followers.

For those of us whose lives are centered in the epicurean world, the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen, this event is our ‘Super Bowl’.  Once here you are exposed to over 70 culinary cooking demonstrations and wine lectures.  The Grand Tasting Pavilion, which is the center of the event, will showcase over 300 wines in addition to a variety of lifestyle brands that are second to none.

This year we at Hundred Acre / One True Vine had the distinct honor and co-sponsored The Magnum Party featuring the Cherry Pie Lounge.   This event kicks off the Food and Wine Classic weekend, everyone’s first stop to meet up with familiar faces and find new friends.

In addition to pouring Hundred Acre, Cherry Pie, Cherry Tart, and If You See Kay, we surprised many with the launch of a new spirits brand – DUKE Bourbon!   Kentucky Straight Bourbon – small batch inspired from John Wayne’s personal whiskey collection that had been preserved for over 50 years.  Needless to say The DUKE stole the show!

I would say, for all of the dedicated food and wine people out there, the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen is an event that absolutely should be on your ‘Bucket-List’.  The setting could not be better, the energy and passion for food and wine beyond explanation.
