Sea of Stones Red Wine Blend
Mendoza ~ Argentina
Winemaker Notes
Each cluster basks in the sun, absorbing the essence of the terroir until it reaches its peak ripeness—a crucial element in crafting the exceptional flavors that define our wines. With a commitment to quality, the grapes are meticulously hand-harvested, delicately de-stemmed and undergo a meticulous sorting process, ensuring only the finest specimens proceed. Every varietal lot, is nurtured and crafted independently, allowing its unique character to flourish and evolve into its own symphony of flavors and nuances. After each lot reaches its pinnacle, the individual varietals are blended together, and Sea of Stones blend is born.
Vineyard Notes
Our Sea of Stones is sourced 100% from the Sea of Stones Vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina – adjacent to the Mendoza River. During the post ice age melt, the Mendoza River swelled to over 5 miles wide and as the melt water slowed, it left behind a layer of cobblestones, gravel and soil hundreds of feet deep. The entire ground surface of the area is blanketed with cobblestones as far as the eye can see, hence, a Sea of Stones. These alluvial clay soils provide excellent water retention capabilities, resulting in wines that display richer fruit flavors and softer tannins while imparting a unique quality to the wine.
Tasting Notes
The aromatics of this wine reveals an enticing blend of black currant, cassis, and the tang of pomegranate interwoven with the subtle tartness of cranberries. As it touches the palate, the wine offers a refreshing and bright entry. The essence of black currant takes center stage, accompanied by the lushness of ripe plum and the delightful indulgence of chocolate-covered cherries. The finish is an ode to complexity and balance. Subtle yet distinct notes of blackberries linger on the palate, harmonizing with the faint aroma of a well-aged cigar box. A gentle dusting of cocoa adds a touch of velvety richness, while an intriguing hint of wet stone minerality lends depth and character to the lingering finale. In totality, this wine encapsulates a symphony of flavors and aromas, inviting the senses on a journey through a rich and nuanced landscape that truly defines its Argentinian origin.
